Book formatting for KDP
A paperback interior typeset like a publisher would — margins calculated from the page count, hyphenation, widows and orphans avoided, chapters on the right-hand page — and the matching EPUB.
To Amazon KDP standards, without thinking about it
The inside margin depends on the page count: 0.375 inch up to 150 pages, 0.5 up to 300, 0.625 up to 500… We typeset, measure the real page count, then typeset again with the right gutter. Embedded fonts, no bookmarks or forbidden metadata, bleed if you ask for it: the PDF passes KDP's check.
Real book typography
Justified text with hyphenation in the language of the book, isolated lines avoided, chapters that start on a right-hand page, running heads that disappear at the start of a chapter, first words in small caps. Eight book fonts to choose from: EB Garamond, Crimson, Libertinus, Spectral, PT Serif, Vollkorn, Noto Serif, Computer Modern.
Front matter, in the right order
Half-title, “also by the author”, title page, copyright page (with ISBN, notices, translator), dedication, epigraph, table of contents with page numbers. At the end of the book: “About the author”. You fill in the fields, we typeset.
Manuscript with no styles? AI finds the structure
If your chapter titles are typed in bold, or your file comes from an old word processor, the structure recognition option has a model reread the manuscript and find chapters, parts, scene breaks, dedication and epigraph. Your text is never rewritten.
